The Patient Care Technician serves as a vital support member of the Intermediate Care Unit (5ABCD), facilitating and assisting in meeting the diverse needs of patients. Working under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, Lead/Charge Nurses, Nursing Directors, and House Supervisors, this role focuses on performing delegated tasks within the scope of an unlicensed patient care provider. The position is designed to ensure high-quality patient care through attentive support and adherence to established medical procedures.
As a team member in this dynamic environment, you will collaborate closely with nursing staff to manage patient responsibilities. The role requires a high degree of reliability, as it involves rotating shifts and units, including weekends and holidays. You will be expected to work within the UTMC Healthcare Tech framework, maintaining necessary certifications such as CPR/BLS and completing specific training courses unless exempted by prior CNA/STNA certification, nursing education, or successful skill assessment.
