At Atrium Medical Center's Critical Care Unit, our team collaborates closely with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. While Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs) may not wear capes, they are essential members of the healthcare team dedicated to helping patients feel better and recover their health.
This part-time position (24 hours per week) serves as a vital support system within the Critical Care Unit. You will work under the supervision of a nurse to ensure tasks are performed safely and correctly. Your day will involve a blend of direct patient interaction and administrative support to keep the hospital running smoothly.
In this role, you will check vital signs such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing, and assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like moving around, getting dressed, and eating. You will also collect samples and report any changes in a patient's condition to the nursing staff. Additionally, you will assist with paperwork and other administrative tasks that ensure patients receive the best possible care.
No previous job experience is strictly required, but candidates must have completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training, have provided patient care within the last five years, or be currently in nursing school with one clinical rotation completed. A BLS CPR certificate is required; if you do not already have one, training will be provided during orientation.
We value team members who can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, even when interrupted, while maintaining a kind and professional demeanor. Strong communication skills, computer literacy, and organizational abilities are key to success in this environment. Prior experience working in a hospital is a bonus.
