Part-time Groundskeeper

About the Role

As a Groundskeeper within the Maintenance department, you are the guardian of the community's curb appeal and exterior environment. Your primary mission is to ensure the property's physical features, amenities, and common areas meet high standards of cleanliness and safety. You will work directly under the Community Director and Service Director to maintain a welcoming atmosphere for residents and guests.

This role is more than just maintenance; it is about fostering a positive community experience. You will interact daily with residents, addressing their concerns with respect and professionalism while ensuring the property remains a safe and pleasant place to live. From removing debris and managing trash to performing minor repairs and ensuring safety compliance, your work directly impacts the quality of life for our residents.

Day in the Life

Your day begins with a thorough inspection of the community to identify and remove litter, debris, and pet waste, ensuring all common areas and amenities are pristine. You will handle the removal of trash from vacant apartments to prepare them for new residents, working alongside the make-ready specialist to facilitate smooth transitions.

Throughout the day, you will respond to service requests, change locks according to policy, and verify that safety features like pool gates are functioning correctly. You serve as a visible ambassador for the company, engaging face-to-face with residents to answer questions and resolve complaints sensitively. You will also remain vigilant for potential hazards, reporting any safety risks immediately to supervisors.

Work Environment & Culture

This position requires working both inside and outside the apartment buildings, exposing you to various weather conditions including rain, snow, heat, and wind. The role involves physical activity such as lifting, carrying, and maneuvering weights, as well as operating equipment like golf carts where applicable. You must be comfortable navigating stairs and accessing all parts of the property.

Hiring Process & Application

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate the ability to read and comply with safety manuals and policies. While a high school diploma or GED is preferred, relevant employment history demonstrating the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment is essential.
