This position serves as a vital support pillar within Longmore Academy, providing structured academic and behavioral assistance to students in grades K-12. The role exists to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of students by fostering a positive, safe, and effective school environment. You will act as a role model, offering positive direction and guidance to students across classrooms, hallways, and all areas where Longmore programming occurs.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of direct student interaction and collaborative support. You will monitor students to ensure compliance with school procedures while assisting teachers with classroom preparation, subject delivery, and activities ranging from physical education to outdoor lessons. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to de-escalation, helping students develop decision-making and problem-solving skills, and managing volatile situations with appropriate interventions when necessary.
You will also be responsible for the safety and organization of the school environment, conducting morning student searches and escorting students between Longmore Academy and other campus facilities. Effective communication is key; you will regularly report inconsistencies or conflicts to supervisors and collaborate with the Longmore staff to address student academic and emotional needs.
Safety and trust are paramount at Longmore Academy. This role requires maintaining strict confidentiality while upholding school rules and standards. You will be expected to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, ensuring that all interactions with students and staff adhere to the highest ethical guidelines.
