Paramedics provide critical medical care to emergency and non-emergency patients, serving as the first line of defense in restoring and promoting patient health. In this role, you will administer life support, manage transport in and out of hospital settings, and maintain positive working relationships with diverse customer groups and agencies. You will operate under established medical protocols or physician authorization to ensure the highest standard of care for the sick and injured.
Success in this position requires more than clinical expertise; it demands a caring and compassionate manner for all patients. You must possess strong assessment skills, the ability to respond quickly, and the capacity to remain calm in high-stress situations. A professional demeanor is essential for cooperating effectively with other first responders. Familiarity with the service area and the ability to navigate it effectively are also key to delivering timely care.
MEMS provides coverage around the clock, seven days a week. Most schedules feature 12- or 24-hour shifts on a regularly rotating basis, with other options potentially available. As a Paramedic, you will work outdoors in all kinds of weather. The role involves significant physical demands, including walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, running, and frequently lifting 110+ pounds. Accurate hearing and vision (correctable to 20/40) are required, and the use of a respirator may occasionally be necessary.
MEMS is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind based on race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, genetic information, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic. Hiring decisions are made solely based on qualifications, merit, and current operational needs.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthful workplace. MEMS maintains a drug, alcohol, and smoke-free working environment. Smoking and tobacco products are not permitted in our facilities, vehicles, or on company grounds. Pre-employment drug testing is required for all candidates, and employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug screens.
