The Para Title Support Services position serves as a vital link within USD 259, operating under the direct supervision of the building administrator or designee. This role is dedicated to maintaining truancy attendance, behavior, and family engagement protocols. The position exists to ensure schools operate effectively by researching and reporting on best practices, latest trends, and available resources to support program design and enhancement.
In this capacity, you will be responsible for collecting and maintaining critical data regarding student attendance and behavior. You will coordinate activities and events, determine the needs of the school and community, and present actionable options based on your findings. The role requires a professional who can manage various software programs, including ParentLink, ParentVue, and Synergy, to facilitate communication and data management.
You will be working with a diverse population of students, families, and colleagues, requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. Success in this role depends on maintaining a positive attitude and interacting with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner. You are expected to provide quick, responsive customer service and promote a safe and healthful environment for students and staff.
Bilingual paraeducators in this role have the added opportunity to provide translation and interpretation services, assisting individual students in their native language. The position demands a team player who can work calmly and efficiently, utilizing good judgment to make decisions on recurring assignments while adhering to the district's mission and goals.
To ensure the effective operation of schools, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours unless approved leave is granted. Any deviation from assigned hours requires prior approval from the supervisor or building administrator. Employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position.
The role may involve limited travel between schools and central offices. Depending on the specific needs of the building, the position may require the ability to react immediately to emergency situations, which could include the use of physical restraint techniques for the safety and welfare of students and staff. The physical demands include the ability to walk long distances, stand for long periods, and lift, carry, push, and pull up to 20 pounds regularly.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Paraeducators working in a Title School must have a minimum of 48 accredited college credits verifiable with a transcript or pass a state-approved assessment. An Associate's Degree and at least one year of experience in a related field are preferred. Proficiency in a language other than English is required for bilingual positions.
