This position supports the application of liquid coatings using HPLV spray equipment, the Matthews line of acrylic polyurethane paints and coatings, and specialized architectural finishes. As a painter, you will be the primary source of quality control, ensuring that products meet near-automotive standards where runs, drips, and holidays are unacceptable.
Your day-to-day involves precise application of various masking materials to reflect approved shop drawings and monitoring the mixing process to minimize waste. While fabrication staff handles the majority of sanding and prep work, you will collaborate closely with them to inspect surfaces and determine the necessary level of finishing before painting. You will also maintain daily logs for paint booth operations, monitor inventory, and work with the purchasing department to ensure materials are ordered economically and on time.
