The Process Development and Efficiency section of the Materials and Process Engineering Department is seeking a Paint and Plating Engineer II to support all phases of product design and production for military and defense applications. This role is based onsite in Andover, MA.
You will apply technical expertise in corrosion, paint, plating, and metal finishing to drive manufacturability and process optimization. The position requires a blend of in-house development and supplier management, ensuring that painting procedures and surface treatments meet rigorous defense specifications. As a key technical liaison, you will bridge engineering, manufacturing, and quality organizations to translate complex engineering drawings into practical procedural instructions. This role involves significant travel (up to 50%) both domestically and internationally to support various project phases and supplier sites.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens with an active and existing DoD Secret security clearance. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, selected candidates may be asked to attend interview steps in-person at our office locations.

Experience in developing finishing processes for aluminum, structural carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium, and nickel alloys. Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Six Sigma, and statistical techniques. Experience in auditing coating processes and working with suppliers. Proven teamwork skills. Conversation skills in foreign languages.
