A Dump Truck Driver is a skilled craft position essential to the success of our construction projects. The primary function of this role is to transport dirt, rock, gravel, and other construction materials to and from job sites and various locations. As an hourly-rated or per-load position, the driver must be adaptable, performing a wide variety of tasks and shifting between duties as the workflow dictates.
This role is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Drivers operate in an environment that periodically exposes them to high levels of noise, grease, and dust typical of construction sites. The work involves close proximity to heavy equipment, moving machinery, and high-traffic areas both inside and outside construction zones. Drivers may encounter various substances commonly found on sites, including form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete. Additionally, trucks are tracked via GPS to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Success in this position requires constant physical effort during regular shifts of at least eight hours. Drivers must be able to stand for extended periods, as well as stoop, bend, and crouch as required. The role involves frequent lifting of at least 50 pounds and carrying up to 30 pounds personally, with assistance available for loads up to 150 pounds. Drivers must maintain constant alertness to multiple concurrent activities on the construction site, including the movement of other employees, contractors, and mobile equipment. The job also requires frequently walking on uneven natural ground in varying weather conditions.
Drivers are expected to possess a deep knowledge of all USDOT and FMCSA safety regulations. A critical part of the daily routine includes performing safety checks on fluid levels (oil, water, fuel) and inspecting the vehicle for leaks or damage prior to operation. Drivers must maintain completed pre- and post-trip DVIRs and carry a current medical examiner's certificate as required by FMCSR part 391.41. Maintaining a clean cab, windows, and mirrors is also a standard expectation.
We are committed to the well-being of our employees. Comprehensive health and welfare benefits are available, including Medical, Dental, and Vision programs, prescription drug coverage, and other voluntary benefits. Employees also receive Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays. To help prepare employees for the future, the company offers a 401(k) plan with both company match and contribution.
