About the Role
The Fiber Splicer is a critical member of our field operations team, dedicated to the terminating, splicing, bonding, grounding, and testing of fiber optic cables and related equipment. Your work ensures maximum operating efficiency across our networks, directly enabling the seamless connectivity that defines our service. While the role is primarily focused on FTTH daytime operations, there may be opportunities for night work to meet project deadlines.
In this position, you will be the technical expert on the ground, handling everything from fusion splicing and installing fiber optic connectors to constructing splice cases with proper sealing and slack storage. You will be responsible for troubleshooting damaged fiber, maintaining network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT), and installing CPE local area networks and WiFi systems. Your role extends to locating buried cabling, performing routine preventive maintenance, and responding to trouble tickets within strict company timeframes. You will also be expected to participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation and work overtime as needed to support our customers and infrastructure.
Hiring Process
Candidates selected for this role will be expected to travel up to 75% of the time across the Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio regions. The position requires a clean and valid driver's license and the ownership of personal hand tools, including drills, bits, and cutters.
