This role is part of the Patient Support Services department at UVMMC - Medical Center, Main Campus, located at 111 Colchester Avenue in Burlington, Vermont. The team operates within a unionized environment to ensure seamless patient care across nursing and testing units.
The Patient Support Orderly serves as a vital support link for all nursing and testing units, facilitating patient-related activities throughout the hospital. The position involves transporting patients, items, and clinical equipment, as well as performing direct care activities such as lifting and boosting patients, setting up traction, and assisting with ECGs.
Orderlies are also essential during critical moments, responding to Code Blue, Code 8, and other emergencies. The role includes providing Post Mortem care and transport. Additionally, the Orderly is responsible for ensuring that equipment required by nursing units is properly assembled, cleaned, maintained, and delivered.
Candidates must be high school graduates or possess an equivalent education. While previous patient care experience is preferred, CPR and AED training/certification will be scheduled within the first 60 days of hire. All new hires must attend and complete MOAB training within the first six months of employment.
This is a full-time, regular position with a standard 40-hour work week. The primary shift is Day, with rotating weekend needs.
