About the Role
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be the critical link in moving heavy loads safely and efficiently within industrial work areas. You will operate stationary or traveling cranes to lift, move, position, and reposition machinery, equipment, and materials. Your day involves responding to written, verbal, or signal instructions to regulate crane speed and direction, ensuring loads are securely attached before every lift.
Beyond operation, you will maintain the integrity of your equipment by performing daily safety inspections, identifying malfunctions, and executing necessary repairs, cleaning, and lubrication. You will also manage the setup process by placing blocks and outriggers to prevent capsazing during heavy lifts and assembling boom sections to modify the crane for specific tasks like pile driving. Precision and safety are paramount as you work within strict accuracy limits to avoid hazards such as utility lines, other equipment, and falling objects.
