The Morsani College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Allergy and Immunology, is seeking a full-time Open Rank physician-scientist to expand our translational research capabilities. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for independent and collaborative research in the discipline of Allergy and Immunology, including areas such as Asthma, Immunotherapy, and Food Allergies.
This position is designed to complement our current faculty expertise and establish a sustainable, externally funded research program. The successful candidate will balance clinical duties, teaching, and research within a vibrant academic medical center. Clinically, the division provides coverage at major regional partners, including the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, the James A. Haley VA, All Children's Hospital, and Tampa General Hospital.
In the classroom, you will teach medical students and residents about in-patient and out-patient internal medicine. The majority of your teaching effort will involve supervising internal medicine residents in an in-patient setting, with opportunities to precept medical students in ambulatory clerkships. Beyond direct instruction, you will advise and mentor students in developing scholarly projects, evaluating their progress, and serving on university-wide, medical school, and departmental committees.
As a researcher, you will design and execute hypothesis-driven experiments, analyze data, and present findings at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and scientific conferences. You will contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing, and peer-reviewed publications while maintaining rigorous research records. The role requires staying current with scientific literature and bringing innovative ideas to the lab's direction, collaborating with internal and external teams to advance translational science.
Candidates must hold a medical degree from an accredited institution and meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Preference is given to those with 2-3 years of physician experience and a proven track record in teaching within an academic medical center. Applicants must be board certified (or eligible) in Allergy & Immunology and hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License.
