About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Ontology Engineer to design and build the OntoSphere Knowledge Graph (KG), serving as the canonical enterprise model that integrates SOPIA, ISO 20022, FIBO, PROV-O, and Client PayOps ontologies. This is a critical, front-loaded position with the highest impact during the initial phases (P0-P1) of ontology design and consensus building.
The successful candidate will define ontology standards, establish semantic relationships, and create a scalable knowledge graph architecture specifically tailored to support banking and payments operations. Following the initial implementation, the role transitions into a phase of consultation, governance, and maintenance during hyper-care and ongoing enhancements.
Location and Work Model
This role is preferred to be local to the New York/New Jersey area, though we remain open to candidates in other locations. Employment is available as either a Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) or Full-Time Employee (FTE).

Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field
- verified4+ years of experience with Knowledge Graph technologies
- verified4+ years of hands-on experience with RDF, OWL, and ontology modeling
- verified4+ years of experience writing and optimizing SPARQL queries
- verified2+ years of experience with SHACL constraint validation
- verified5+ years of experience in Python or Java development
- verifiedKnowledge of banking ontologies such as FIBO, ISO 20022, FRO
- verifiedOMG Certified Expert in BPM (CEBPM) preferred

Nice to Have
Experience with Wikidata or DBpedia integration. Familiarity with ontology alignment and mapping tools such as LIMES or Silk. Knowledge of PROV-O provenance modeling. Experience with reasoning engines like Pellet, HermiT, or ELK. Proficiency in property graph technologies (Cypher, Gremlin). Experience with Apache Jena Fuseki or GraphDB Workbench. Knowledge of RDF-star (RDF*) implementations. Familiarity with Knowledge Graph Embeddings (TransE, ComplEx, RGCN). Possession of certifications such as OMG Certified Expert in BPM (CEBPM), Stardog Certification, or other Semantic Web/Knowledge Graph related certifications.
