About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess clients, patients, and residents to design comprehensive treatment plans that help them develop, maintain, and recover their ability to perform essential life tasks. You will evaluate physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial abilities to create realistic therapy goals and administer appropriate programs for those with functional, cognitive, or behavioral impairments.
Your day-to-day work involves conducting evaluations, documenting patient information, establishing therapeutic plans, and modifying them as necessary. You will provide education to enhance understanding and improve functional outcomes, incorporating current research into daily treatments. This position may involve treating individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses across post-acute, long-term care, and home health environments.
Beyond direct patient care, you will interact with providers, case managers, family members, and third-party payers. You may supervise assistants, aides, and students, and are expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers. The role requires flexibility with variable work schedules and a commitment to promoting the department and the organization.
Hiring Process
An accepted offer is contingent upon passing a drug screen and pre-employment background screening. Candidates must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers within the first 60 days of employment.

Requirements
- verifiedAppropriate education level in accordance with state licensure
- verifiedLicensed in the state(s) of practice as Occupational Therapist
- verifiedBasic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within 60 days
- verifiedValid driver's license (if applicable)
- verifiedNBCOT certification (preferred for GSS Facilities)
Nice to Have
Certification through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) when working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred for GSS Facilities).
