About the Team
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is a vibrant, expanding group of more than 50 physicians and researchers dedicated to Women's Health. MUSC Health has earned a national ranking as one of the top 20 hospitals for Obstetrics & Gynecology by U.S. News & World Report (2023-2024).
The department operates within a state-of-the-art ecosystem anchored by the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and the Pearl Tourville Women's Pavilion. This 100,000-square-foot facility, opened in 2020, transforms the delivery of fetal, women's, and children's care in the Lowcountry. Supporting this clinical excellence is the Charles P. Darby Children's Research Institute, the largest pediatric research facility in the Carolinas and one of only 15 such facilities in the country.
About the Role
We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Obstetrics & Gynecology clinician-educator to join our team in Charleston, SC. This role is pivotal for educating the next generation of physician leaders while enhancing access to specialized care for high-risk OB/GYN patients across Charleston and the surrounding regions.
As a member of this supportive and collaborative department, you will shape the future of the specialty by engaging in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows. The position offers a customizable clinic schedule tailored to your professional needs, with a dedicated one-day-per-month coverage shift at the Labor & Delivery unit and approximately four weeks of inpatient coverage annually. Surgical responsibilities include providing operating room time twice a month for GYN surgery cases, including robotic procedures for those credentialed, supported by subspecialists in GYN Oncology, Urogynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI).
The role is designed to promote work-life balance through a flexible call system shared within the department. While the position includes a strong academic component, there is no research requirement. You will utilize the EPIC medical record platform to deliver high-quality care.
