The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a System Division Director for Complex Family Planning within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science. This role is critical to ensuring the clinical, research, and educational missions of the department and its academic health center partners are carried forward effectively.
The selected candidate will play an instrumental role in delivering excellent patient care, achieving high-quality outcomes, and ensuring patient satisfaction. Beyond clinical leadership, the Director is expected to be fully committed to the overarching mission of Mount Sinai Health System. As a role model, the incumbent must demonstrate professional, supportive, respectful, and accountable behavior to foster a positive work environment that encourages communication at all levels.
The Director will build a culture of professionalism, trust, and collaboration while establishing systems to ensure timely information flow from the department, medical school, and health system to all faculty and staff. This involves conducting regular meetings with clinical, research, and administrative personnel to maximize attendance and engagement.
A significant portion of the role involves navigating local and national forces shaping US healthcare to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with institutional goals. The Director will identify opportunities for growth in clinical, research, and educational programs and monitor progress against division-specific missions.
Collaboration is central to this position. The Director will work closely with physicians, nurses, medical staff, social workers, and bereavement specialists to provide comprehensive care and psychosocial counseling to patients facing fetal abnormalities, difficult pregnancies, and fetal loss, often in partnership with the Perinatal Bereavement Program. Additionally, the role requires supporting individuals across the reproductive spectrum through regular collaboration with the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center, the Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery, the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the Department of Genetics.
The Director will also guide the academic advancement of faculty and fellows, ensuring appropriate mentorship and feedback. This includes supporting faculty and fellows who volunteer to staff the East Harlem Outreach Partnership, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai's student-run free clinic serving uninsured adults in the neighborhood.
