As a Nursing Attendant at Kaiser Permanente, you will perform a variety of patient care functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. Your work is guided by the organization's legal scope of competency, established standards of care, and the Medical Center's Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan. You will be a vital part of the healthcare team, treating patients, families, and colleagues with dignity and respect while remaining flexible to changing systems and demonstrating quality in your daily work habits.
Your day involves a dynamic blend of clinical support and compassionate care. You will correctly identify patients and scheduled procedures, performing care activities that consider the age-related needs of the population served. From collecting data to assist in revising plans of care to reporting unusual findings to the Registered Nurse, your observations are critical to patient safety.
You will ensure a safe environment by applying standard precautions and utilizing proper body mechanics when transporting patients, equipment, and specimens throughout the medical center. Your role extends to customer service, where you will promptly answer call lights, anticipate patient needs, and assist those who are less satisfied with their experience by listening and taking responsibility within your scope. Documentation of your activities will be legible, dated, and signed, reflecting the data collected within your competency.
As a committed team member, you will participate in departmental performance improvement activities, attend mandatory meetings and inservices, and support a collaborative labor-management partnership environment. You will also maintain a clean, orderly, and functional work environment while protecting patient confidentiality.
This is an on-call position where days and hours may vary. Candidates must be prepared for a role that requires considerable walking, standing, and the ability to handle emergencies and patient incidents within their scope of competency. Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required, and some positions may require bilingual Spanish skills or specific certifications such as a Fire Safety Card or Neonatal Resuscitation Modules 1-4 for Family Centered Care.
