For over 40 years, Christ House has provided comprehensive care to patients coming from area hospitals, shelters, clinics, and medical outreach initiatives. We operate a 24-hour short-term medical respite facility for men experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. Our patients arrive with a variety of chronic and acute illnesses and injuries, including diabetes, hypertension, stroke, amputation, HIV/AIDS, liver disease, cancer, fractures, and wounds.
This position offers an incredible opportunity to work alongside a dedicated staff who provide holistic services and promote healing for our patients. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse provides holistic nursing support, patient care, and medication management. You will collaborate with clinical and support staff to manage medical issues and coordinate with the care team to address the multiple issues that contribute to homelessness.
In this role, you will teach and encourage patients' self-care practices regarding the management of their illnesses and medications. You will perform primary nursing procedures, including patient assessment, wound care, and vital signs interpretation, while admitting new patients and conducting discharges. The position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality care in a dynamic environment where every interaction promotes healing and stability.
