The Nuclear Medicine Technologist I plays a vital support role by assisting physicians in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position focuses on preparing patients and operating nuclear medicine equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic scans, ensuring accurate results for patient care.
Candidates must be certified and registered in Nuclear Medicine by the ARRT (RT(N)) or NMTCB (CNMT). A valid state license and IV credentialing are required. Additionally, candidates must meet life support training requirements as outlined in the Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096.
While an Associate Degree from an ARRT-approved or NMTCB-recognized Nuclear Medicine Program is preferred, a minimum of one year of experience in nuclear medicine is also preferred. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to function independently within diagnostic rooms. Technologists must possess a working knowledge of various nuclear medicine equipment types and be adaptable to new situations and procedures. A critical aspect of the position is the ability to interpret information to identify each patient's specific care requirements relative to their age.
