About the Program
The University of Pittsburgh, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Institute for Multiple Sclerosis Care and Research and UPMC Medical Education, is pleased to offer fellowships for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applications are accepted through January 31, 2026.
We offer three distinct subspecialty tracks designed to provide balanced training experiences that integrate structured didactics, scholarly activities, and clinical excellence. Our program places a special emphasis on career development, subspecialty board preparation, and helping fellows balance professional growth with life in Pittsburgh.
Clinical Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis
This ACGME-accredited neuromuscular fellowship offers a focused opportunity in clinical neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis.
NeuroOncology
This fellowship provides a unique chance for a balanced training experience. An optional second research year is available for interested applicants who wish to pursue a deeper scholarly focus.
Women's Neurology
Beginning July 2026, this fellowship offers specialized training at the interface between neurological disorders and women's health across the lifespan. The program can follow directly after neurology residency or be undertaken before or after fellowship training in any neurological subspecialty.
Fellows train alongside top experts in the field, including Women's Neurology Division Chief Dr. Eliza Miller, Chair of Neurology Dr. Page Pennell, and Fellowship Director Dr. Angela O'Neal. Training takes place within an integrated multidisciplinary practice setting at Magee-Womens Hospital, where over 10,000 deliveries occur annually. Fellows will work with multiple subspecialists dedicated to women's neurological health. Career development is supported, with up to 50% protected time for research offered to qualified candidates pursuing a clinical research track. Elective time is tailored to the fellow's specific clinical and research interests.
