This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Our team of more than 7,000 professionals worldwide delivers all-domain expertise and advanced technologies in service of mission partners across the globe. We work within the nation's intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, and software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners.
Mission Technologies is leading the next evolution of national defense—the data evolution—by accelerating a breadth of national security solutions for government and commercial customers. From C5ISR and AI to the largest family of unmanned underwater vehicles in every class, we deliver mission-driven solutions that matter.
This is an unpaid internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program designed specifically for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel during their final 180 days of service. The SkillBridge Intern will train as a Network Engineer with HII Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated Network Engineering Supervisor. The goal is to gain hands-on experience in designing, planning, implementing, testing, and sustaining enterprise networks within Warfare Systems environments.
You will actively train on meaningful projects, working closely with a mentor and senior company leadership. This program focuses on placing transitioning military personnel into internships that leverage their existing Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) and military training, offering a pathway to full-time roles with HII. Over a 3-4 month target period, you will apply best practices in network architecture, hardware/software selection, and integration testing. By the end of the program, you will have the confidence to perform mid-level network engineering functions across LAN, MAN, WAN, and cloud-integrated networks. This internship also provides a unique window into HII's mission, culture, and career pathways.
Your journey is structured to take you from foundational knowledge to operational leadership. You will begin with orientation to HII, TS/SCI protocols, and core network concepts. As you progress, you will build applied skills in design and implementation, moving into integrated operations where you will evaluate emerging technologies and manage complex, large-scale computer-integrated networks.
The program culminates in a capstone network architecture project demonstrating end-to-end mastery, followed by advanced operational phases that include simulated mission exercises, red-team/blue-team collaboration, and shadowing senior engineers. You will also have the opportunity to mentor future interns and build a professional career roadmap. Throughout the program, you will work alongside subject matter experts to solve real-world challenges, from configuring routers and firewalls to integrating cloud networks with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
To apply, candidates must be active-duty military personnel within the final 180 days of their service. Applications are accepted within the final 12 months of U.S. military active-duty service. If selected, HII Mission Technologies will fund all travel costs associated with the internship.
