About the Role
As an NCCER Rigger, you will be the critical link in setting up cranes and hoisting equipment and materials on construction projects. Your day-to-day involves selecting the appropriate cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves based on the weight and size of the load. You will attach these components to fixed overhead structures like beams, ceilings, and gin-pole booms using bolts and clamps.
Safety is the core of your mission. You will direct crane operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads, ensuring the safety of both workers and materials. This requires clear communication via hand signals, loudspeakers, radio, or telephone. Additionally, you will set up braces and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches, and splice rope and wire cables to create or repair slings and tackle.
