The Music Therapist serves as a vital member of the Hospice program, delivering compassionate care to adults and children through the power of music. This role is designed to improve physical, psychological, and social health by creating, singing, moving to, and listening to music within a therapeutic setting. The position requires a deep love of music and strong musicianship to facilitate both passive listening and participatory programs involving singing, dancing, and instrument playing.
In this role, you will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to analyze patient needs and develop tailored treatment plans. Your day-to-day involves instructing patients individually or in groups on techniques such as progressive muscle relaxation and projective imagery. You will also lead music therapy sessions at Camp Erin twice a year and may be required to travel to various locations throughout South Florida to expand your reach. Additionally, the role includes supervising internships, maintaining musical instruments, and managing on-call emergencies, including weekends and holidays.
