The practice of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the use of radio frequencies within a magnetic field on humans of all ages, from newborn to geriatric, for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. As an MRI Technologist, you will perform MRI procedures utilizing MRI scanners and power injectors to produce cross-sectional and 3D images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
In this role, you will be expected to safely administer contrast or other imaging agents, including identifying incompatibilities and interactions. You will assess a patient's risk for allergic reactions prior to administration and evaluate lab values in accordance with established protocols. Your day-to-day involves providing accurate explanations and instructions to patients and families using age-appropriate language, ensuring they understand and agree to the ordered exam. You will perform exams in accordance with established imaging protocols while respecting the patient's ability and comfort, documenting any deviations or patient-specific issues that may impact image quality.
You will also be responsible for notifying appropriate healthcare providers when an immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings or patient condition. Timely completion of post-processing, image display, transfer for physician review, order closure, charge entry, and PACS QA completion is essential. Additionally, you will routinely cover open shifts as appropriate based on your level of competency.
This position operates Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
