This position is integral to the clinical operations at Falmouth Hospital, supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services. The role exists to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory testing that directly informs patient care decisions. Whether serving as an Associate Medical Technician or a Medical Technologist, you will be the backbone of the lab's daily workflow, bridging the gap between specimen collection and critical diagnostic reporting.
Your day will be defined by a dynamic mix of technical precision and patient interaction. You will be responsible for performing a wide array of diagnostic tests across multiple disciplines, including blood bank, hematology, serology, chemistry, coagulation, microscopy, and bacteriology. From drawing venous or capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients to packaging specimens and arranging delivery to reference laboratories, your attention to detail ensures the integrity of every sample.
Beyond testing, you will manage the full lifecycle of laboratory activity. This includes prioritizing urgent requests, calibrating and maintaining complex equipment, and ensuring the prompt transmittal of accurate results to physicians and nursing units. You will also handle the administrative side of diagnostics, ensuring proper reporting of charges and billing information while maintaining strict adherence to facility protocols, such as wearing identification badges at all times.
At Falmouth Hospital, service excellence is not just a goal but a commitment reflected in our CARES values: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service. You are expected to consistently provide courteous and professional interactions with patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues. This role requires a team member who takes ownership of their assigned areas, stays abreast of new developments in clinical laboratory procedures, and upholds the highest standards of care and safety.
