About the Role
The Assistant Coach serves as a vital support to the head coaching staff within secondary school athletic programs. This position exists to help promote sports both within the school and the broader community, ensuring a positive and structured environment for student-athletes.
Day in the Life
Working under the direction of the head coach, you will assist in planning the athletic program and organizing daily practices. Your role involves teaching individual fundamental skills, team strategies, and the rules and regulations of the game. You will also guide participants toward developing good sportsmanship, self-control, and a harmonious team spirit.
A significant part of your day includes providing emotional support, patience, and general guidance to students, acting as a proper role model. You will conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes and assist in checking participant eligibility, including insurance coverage and parent consent. Additionally, you may provide escort assistance and supervision to athletes during team travel.
Requirements & Safety
To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, successful candidates must complete a criminal records check and required trainings, including First Aid and CPR. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
