Mental Health Workers at Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility play a vital role in supporting the care, safety, and stabilization of adult patients in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting. Working under the supervision of the Mental Health Worker Manager and in collaboration with nursing and clinical teams, you will assist with daily care routines, therapeutic engagement, and clinical support tasks. This position is essential to maintaining a therapeutic and secure environment where patients can recover and stabilize.
Your day involves a dynamic mix of direct patient care and clinical support. You will monitor patient safety through regular rounds, assist with activities of daily living such as hygiene and grooming, and support patients during meals to encourage healthy routines. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to therapeutic engagement, where you will lead or participate in group activities and structured social interactions.
You will work closely with the nursing staff to assist with vital signs monitoring and document patient behaviors and progress accurately in the medical record. The role requires you to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations, responding to crises or behavioral escalations as needed while adhering to strict safety and privacy protocols. Whether working the AM shift (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) or the NOC shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), you will be part of a 24/7 operation where coverage is essential to patient care.
Ocean View is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week facility serving patients with complex social and psycho-social needs. The environment can be noisy and sporadically chaotic, and you may encounter hostile patients or profanity. Depending on your assignment, you may work in locked units with diverse populations, including juveniles or individuals formerly incarcerated. Despite these challenges, we foster a supportive, team-oriented work environment where collaboration across disciplines is key to success.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Live Scan fingerprinting, background check clearance, and verification of required licenses, certifications, and education. Candidates must also satisfactorily complete professional reference checks and be legally authorized to work in the United States. All hires must comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including health screenings, immunizations, and annual trainings.
Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are dedicated to providing a safe and respectful environment for both our staff and patients.
