About the Role

The Mental Health Specialist is a vital member of our Behavioral Health team, dedicated to providing age-specific basic physical care while addressing the spiritual and psychosocial needs of our patients. This role is designed to support patients through their cultural values, religious beliefs, and barriers to learning by implementing appropriate therapeutic approaches under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

In this position, you will help maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu, facilitate group activities, and provide crisis intervention. You will work closely with patients to identify their strengths and weaknesses within their social, cultural, and spiritual support networks. Your work ensures that treatment activities align with the hospital's philosophy and comply with regulatory standards, including HFAP, IDPH, and the Illinois Mental Health Code. This role requires a professional who can think critically and demonstrate compassion and empathy in high-pressure situations.
