About the Opportunity
A free-standing cancer center in West South Carolina is seeking a physician specializing in medical oncology to provide locum tenens coverage across two locations. This role offers a unique chance to support a dedicated team in delivering comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
The position is designed to provide stability and continuity of care without the burden of call duties during the locum period. Physicians will join a robust support structure, collaborating with seven other physicians, six advanced practice providers, and specialized nurse oncologists to manage complex cases, including bone marrow transplants and blood bank coordination.
Day in the Life
Working primarily Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., you will manage a patient volume of approximately 25 outpatient visits and round on 20 inpatients daily. The role involves active participation in tumor boards, ordering tests and imaging, and prescribing medications using the EPIC EMR system. This schedule allows for focused clinical engagement while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Ideal candidates should be Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology with a valid South Carolina license, BLS certification, and DEA registration. The start date is flexible, with July 1st being the preferred timeline for an initial 6-month engagement.
