About the Role
This position serves as a vital component of our diagnostic team, performing and reporting tests of all complexity levels as defined by CLIA on patients of all ages. Your work directly assists in the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), you will be responsible for a wide range of duties including specimen processing, phlebotomy, instrumentation maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role requires strong problem-solving skills to handle complex situations and active participation in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring. MLS candidates will additionally engage in research, development, education, and technical consultation, interpreting and correlating test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge.
Location and Schedule
This role is based at Building B - St Marys Medical Center. The position operates on a Night Rotation shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM) with a schedule of 64 hours per pay period. Weekend availability is required. This is a 0.8 FTE position within the USWA Technical Workers SMMC (UTECH) union.

Requirements
- verifiedGraduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician OR meets CLIA guidelines for MLT
- verifiedGraduate of a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory science OR MLT (ASCP) certified with additional semester hours and 2 years lab experience for MLS
- verifiedCertification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or equivalent required within one year for MLT
- verifiedCertification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) required within one year for MLS
