The Burn Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is a nationally recognized leader in complex burn and reconstructive surgery. As the only adult burn center in the state of Maryland, it holds verification from the American Burn Association (ABA) and designation by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System (MIEMSS). The center delivers high-acuity, multidisciplinary care across the full continuum of treatment, managing over 700 complex patients annually across inpatient, emergency, and observation settings, alongside thousands of outpatient encounters.
The facility features a 10-bed Burn ICU, a 23-bed step-down unit, a dedicated operating room, and a specialized rehabilitation gym. This infrastructure supports integrated care ranging from emergent resuscitation and critical care to definitive surgical management, reconstruction, and long-term recovery.
The Medical Director will hold a faculty appointment at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across the entire spectrum of burn care. This includes acute resuscitation, operative management, critical care, rehabilitation, and outpatient follow-up. Working in partnership with interdisciplinary teams and hospital leadership, the Medical Director will lead quality improvement efforts and advance the center's research and education programs.
In this role, you will support trainee development and promote burn prevention, advocacy, and community outreach at local, regional, and national levels.
