Medical Assistant

About the Role

This on-call position supports the direct provision of patient care within a Kaiser Permanente medical office or clinic. Working under the supervision of licensed health care providers, the role serves as a vital link in the clinical workflow, performing routine patient care procedures, technical functions, and supportive tasks. The position exists to ensure seamless patient experiences while maintaining strict adherence to established clinical protocols, state and federal laws, and internal organizational policies.

Day in the Life

A typical day involves assisting assigned physicians and medical personnel with procedures and diagnostic exams while applying principles of aseptic technique and infection control. Responsibilities include preparing and administering medications as directed, managing patient test results and follow-up systems, and handling routine clerical functions such as appointment scheduling and chart management. The role also requires documenting pertinent patient information and nursing procedures with a focus on confidentiality, while providing basic information and assistance to patients under the direction of licensed staff.

Hiring Process

Candidates are encouraged to apply if they meet the basic qualifications, including a valid Basic Life Support certification and either certification as a Medical Assistant or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. While prior experience is preferred, the primary focus is on adherence to Kaiser Permanente's policies and the ability to work within a dynamic, on-call schedule where days and hours may vary.
