Mission Hospital, a member of Mission Health and an operating division of HCA Healthcare, serves as the regional tertiary and quaternary care center in Western North Carolina. As a national learning health system, we are transforming care delivery, advancing clinical outcomes, and empowering our nursing teams in a collaborative effort to give people a healthier tomorrow.
Our facility is licensed for 853 beds and stands as the region's only trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III neonatal intensive care unit, and children's hospital. We are proud to be a Magnet® designated hospital for nursing excellence. Our commitment to innovation is evident in our cutting-edge SPOT Technology, which detects sepsis earlier than the human eye, and our Enhanced Surgical Recovery program, which reduces opioid prescriptions and post-surgical readmissions. Stroke response times at our facility are nearly half of the national average.
HCA Healthcare has been recognized as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute more than ten times. In recent years, we have spent an estimated $3.7 billion on charitable care, uninsured discounts, and other uncompensated expenses. As Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr., HCA Healthcare Co-Founder, stated: "The great hospitals will always put the patient and the patient's family first, and the really great institutions will provide care with warmth, compassion, and dignity for the individual."
