The Mechanical Equipment / Piping Engineer serves as a critical partner to the Engineering Lead and Product Engineering Manager, driving the mechanical and piping scope for large-scale data centers. This role spans the entire lifecycle of Hyperscale Data Center Modules, from design and construction to assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning. You will ensure that all mechanical systems meet rigorous customer requirements and industrial standards, balancing accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety.
In this position, you will act as a primary point of contact for clients, representing the organization in review meetings and resolving technical inquiries with professionalism. The role requires a self-driven approach to interpreting assignments, making independent technical decisions, and supervising outsourcing efforts when necessary. You will be instrumental in the manufacturing stage, supporting the plant and troubleshooting site installation challenges alongside various stakeholders.
Your work will involve a dynamic mix of design, review, and field support. You will check and approve drawings, documentation, and calculations to ensure conformance with client specifications and governing codes. Key activities include preparing Technical Requisitions (TRs), reviewing vendor quotations, and generating detailed Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
You will also engage in strategic problem-solving, identifying innovative solutions to reduce costs without compromising quality or schedule. This includes selecting appropriate painting and coating systems, designing piping insulation, and determining component mounting strategies. As the role progresses, you will provide technical support during construction, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and attend job site visits and commissioning activities to ensure seamless project execution.
