Viasat is looking for a dynamic Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for the design, documentation, production support, and environmental testing of advanced government communication products spanning ground, aerospace, and space platforms.
You will join a strong mechanical design and analysis team in Tempe, contributing to the development of reliable, high-performance systems for demanding operational environments. The day-to-day involves creating and maintaining fabrication and assembly drawings, providing mechanical support to manufacturing for multiple government and space-qualified production programs, supporting environmental acceptance and qualification testing, and creating or updating thermal and structural analyses for mission-critical hardware.

Experience with SolidWorks and ePDM software. Electronics packaging design experience. Familiarity with space environmental requirements. Experience with ANSYS Workbench or similar FEA software.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar relevant engineering degree required.
