Out at sea, there's no margin for failure. Naval systems must operate reliably in extreme conditions, constant vibration, high heat, saltwater corrosion, and continuous operational demand. The hardware that supports these missions must be engineered not just to function, but to endure.
At WR, we design and deliver the mechanical and electrical systems that protect, support, and enable critical naval technologies. From concept through deployment, our work ensures that mission-critical equipment performs exactly as expected, when it matters most.
This opportunity is for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design and develop ruggedized mechanical and electromechanical systems supporting critical naval operations. You're not just designing parts; you're ensuring systems survive real-world conditions at sea.
You will work across the full lifecycle: concept → design → analysis → testing → deployment. Your designs will directly support mission readiness and operational reliability, bridging the gap between engineering design and real-world performance. This role requires independent analysis of specifications to ensure designs can be produced by existing manufacturing methods and the determination of feasibility for new or modified components considering costs, space, and time limitations.
This position is based in Norfolk, VA, with minimal travel required. An Active Secret Clearance is required to start. The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check, which may include verification of employment history, education, criminal history, driving records, and other relevant information.
