Our Hardware Development Engineering team operates in a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment. We work alongside software engineers, controls engineers, data scientists, reliability engineers, and operations teams to design, prototype, and develop packaging automation systems. Our focus spans the entire product development lifecycle—from early concept generation and design down-selection through continuous improvement of deployed systems across hundreds of fulfillment centers in North America and Europe.
What sets our team apart is our hands-on approach to solving complex technical challenges. We design and build custom mechanisms, develop novel automation solutions, and create robust mechanical and electromechanical systems. We work directly in lab environments and fulfillment centers to bring our designs from prototype to production at scale. Our contributions directly impact Amazon's sustainability goals, operational efficiency, and the customer experience for millions of packages shipped daily.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical ownership and refinement of the packaging platforms and automation systems that enable faster and more efficient delivery to Amazon's customers. You will execute the design and manufacturing of Amazon's in-house packaging machinery and automation in close collaboration with Electrical and Controls teams.
Your work will ensure that projects are optimized for customer experience, supply chain efficiency, and sustainability. You will be responsible for ensuring project documentation is complete and scalable for manufacturing, as well as supporting the safety certification of projects and platforms. This role is critical in bridging the gap between concept and production-ready integrated systems that meet rigorous customer, safety, regulatory, and business requirements.
Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
