The Support Mechanical Commissioning Agent (CxA) serves as a vital third-party authority, systematically verifying that mechanical systems function in strict accordance with design intent and the Owner's Project Requirements (OPR). This role is designed for individuals with a technical background and in-depth expertise in the commissioning process, including verification techniques, functional performance testing, and O&M knowledge.
Operating under the framework of ASHRAE Guideline 0, the CxA ensures quality and performance across all five levels of commissioning. The position requires a blend of field execution and analytical rigor, involving the deployment of data loggers, execution of functional tests, and the analysis of infrared scanning data. You will work closely with clients, engineers of record, general contractors, and vendors to communicate findings clearly and professionally.
This role demands a hybrid approach with a significant onsite presence. You are expected to work onsite every day that testing or inspections are scheduled. The typical travel rotation follows a 3-weeks-onsite, 1-week-work-from-home model. However, if you are local to a job site, onsite work is required. This schedule is subject to change based on client and business needs.
The physical demands of the role are substantial. You must be prepared to stand for eight or more hours, navigate rugged or unstable conditions, and work in adverse weather. The role may require climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, or crawling, as well as carrying test equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. A dedicated home office is required for days spent working remotely.
Candidates should possess a 4-year college degree or equivalent field experience and a general understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems. While no specific prior commissioning experience is required, military experience is considered a plus. Applicants must demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to take direction, and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply with a focus on their initiative, integrity, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, travel-intensive environment.
