This position serves as a vital link in the facility's logistics chain, responsible for the safe and accurate movement of raw materials, finished products, and equipment. Working directly on the warehouse floor alongside heavy machinery, the Forklift Operator ensures that inventory flows smoothly from storage to shipping. The role requires a strong safety mindset, as it has been identified as "safety sensitive" by thyssenkrupp, necessitating strict adherence to health, safety, ISO, and 6S initiatives.
You will operate a forklift truck, and potentially cranes, hoists, or hand trucks, to transport goods throughout the facility. Your day involves accurately removing and stocking products according to inventory plans, selecting items to fill customer orders, and packaging them properly. You will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, verifying that the correct items are moved, and performing cycle counts to maintain inventory integrity. Additionally, you may be required to cut orders using a Kaltenbach saw and segregate any defective material found during operations.
Safety is paramount in this environment. You will inspect your forklift at the beginning of every shift and report any issues immediately. As a safety-sensitive role, successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required, which may include testing for marijuana in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. You will also be expected to complete necessary paperwork per work instructions and assist with general cleanup to maintain a safe workspace.
