As a Marine Electrician based in Norfolk, VA, you will join a passionate, talented, and diverse team supporting cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations. You will work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations, playing a critical role in ensuring successful and safe work that is vital to our mission to protect and serve our Military.
In this position, you will fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies by applying appropriate safety techniques. You will perform assignments that are not completely standardized, selecting or adapting standard procedures using applicable precedents. Your day-to-day work involves constructing components, troubleshooting malfunctions, and following specific layout and scientific diagrams to package simple devices. You will also conduct tests requiring minor modifications to setups, compile engineering data from field notes and reports, and assist in design modifications by analyzing data related to specifications and materials.
This role requires working in dynamic environments with drafts, noise, and temperature variations, including high-heat spaces. You may need to climb shipyard dry dock stairs, work in kneeling positions for cable runs under false decking, and lift or carry significant weight while standing, crouching, or walking. Attention to safety is critical throughout your shift.
