The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the production and post-processing of medical devices. This role ensures high-quality output through essential secondary processes such as deburring, mirror polishing, media blasting, filing, cleaning, and packaging.
Technicians perform critical production activities including equipment set-up, line clearance, processing, labeling, and record completion while strictly adhering to quality system guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The position also involves supporting equipment maintenance, participating in continuous improvement projects, and conducting inspections for components and products at all stages of the manufacturing process.
This position operates within standard machine shop conditions, which may include noise, dust, and temperature extremes. Depending on the specific task, work may also take place in a clean room environment requiring gowning, hair nets, shoe covers, and nitrile gloves.
The role involves the use of various tools and equipment, including basic hand tools, rotary tools, media blasting cabinets, and sealing and packaging equipment. Technicians must be prepared to handle or be exposed to metallic powders, powered materials, mill coolant, tapping fluid, polymeric resins, cleaning solutions, inert gases, and acids.
Physical requirements include the ability to intermittently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The job may require extended periods of standing, extensive manual dexterity with tools, and occasional squatting, kneeling, or working with a ladder. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, and protective clothing, is required based on task performance.
