About the Role
Synopsys is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive advanced hardware manufacturing initiatives in Mountain View, CA. This role is pivotal for supporting the industrialization of high-complexity electronic systems, bridging the gap between R&D innovation and high-volume production.
You will serve as the primary technical interface for global EMS partners, leading end-to-end manufacturing process development for PCBA and electromechanical assembly. From New Product Introduction (NPI) through sustaining programs, you will define process flows, optimize yield, and implement automation strategies to ensure manufacturing excellence. - check_circleLead manufacturing engineering activities for PCBA and electromechanical assembly across NPI and sustaining programs
- check_circleDefine and industrialize end-to-end manufacturing processes for complex electronic products
- check_circleDrive DFx reviews including DFM, DFA, DFT, DFS, and DFR with R&D and EMS partners
- check_circleDevelop PFMEAs, process flows, control plans, work instructions, and manufacturing standards
- check_circleOptimize SMT/THT assembly processes, solder profiles, stencil design, and reliability studies
- check_circleTroubleshoot manufacturing defects and reliability issues using root cause analysis methodologies
- check_circleLead Final Assembly Test and Packout (FATP) process development and optimization
- check_circleSupport automation initiatives to improve assembly efficiency, ergonomics, quality, and cost
- check_circleTrain EMS engineering teams on product/process requirements and validate operator certification programs
- check_circleSupport prototype builds, production ramps, readiness reviews, and risk mitigation activities
- check_circleServe as the primary technical manufacturing interface with EMS partners
- check_circleOwn BOM transition from prototype to production and support ECO implementation
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- verified7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
- verifiedExperience leading complex NPI programs
- verifiedHands-on troubleshooting experience at PCBA and system levels
- verifiedExperience working with global EMS/Contract Manufacturing partners
- verifiedLean Six Sigma certification preferred
Nice to Have
Experience with highly dense and complex PCBAs. Exposure to networking hardware, telecom, semiconductor, or test instrumentation products. Knowledge of IPC, ISO, and industry quality standards. Experience with automation fixtures and precision assembly tooling. Lean Six Sigma certification. Familiarity with CAD tools and optoelectronics/optical cabling.
