AutoZone's Store Management team drives store performance, fosters a productive team, and ensures exceptional customer service. Managers and Manager in Training (MIT) roles play a key leadership position, expected to "Live The Pledge" and deliver WOW! Customer Service while executing store operations with excellence. Through operational oversight and team development, store management supports AutoZone's mission of providing trusted automotive solutions.
Since opening our first store in 1979, AutoZone has grown into a leading retailer and distributor of automotive parts and accessories across the Americas. Our customer-first mindset and commitment to "Going the Extra Mile" define who we are, for both our customers and AutoZoners. Working at AutoZone means being part of a team that values dedication, teamwork, and growth. Whether you're helping customers or building your career, we provide tools and support to help you succeed and drive your future.
The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a transitional role designed to prepare you for promotion into a Retail Store Management position. With a focus on leadership training, customer service excellence, and operational expertise, you'll receive hands-on assignments and structured learning opportunities. Within 8-12 weeks, you could progress into management, depending on your prior experience and performance.
MITs lead by example, demonstrating initiative and strong leadership under the Store Manager's guidance. You will be responsible for cultivating a high-performing, engaged store team, maintaining clear communication with employees and customers, and learning to manage monthly Profit & Loss statements to optimize store profitability. Success in this role requires consistent progression throughout the training program, with promotion being performance-based and subject to management availability.
