The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. Independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. We maintain a world-renowned newsroom that sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. Our focus is deeply on how our readers experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. Our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it's worth paying for.
The Cloud Cost & Capacity Engineering (CCCE) team sits at the center of how we invest in and use the cloud at The New York Times. We help leaders understand where cloud spend is going, where to invest, and where to optimize without slowing teams down.
As Manager, CCCE, you will lead our FinOps function: how we forecast, govern, and communicate cloud costs and capacity across the company. You will work closely with engineering, product, finance, and data partners to turn complex usage and cost signals into clear guidance and decisions for senior leaders. You will do this in a collaborative environment that values trade-off discussions, clear storytelling, and recommendations over dashboards.
This role reports to the Director of Engineering, Developer Platforms. We value journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
This role may require limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables.
