This position serves as a vital support pillar for our facilities, ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of our buildings and grounds. The role is designed to handle a diverse range of routine repairs and maintenance tasks, blending hands-on technical work with essential custodial duties. You will be the first line of defense for building integrity, addressing everything from minor plumbing leaks and electrical fixes to carpentry repairs and general cleaning.
The day-to-day life of this role is dynamic and active. Approximately 75% of your time will be dedicated to technical maintenance, where you will troubleshoot and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing fixtures, and electrical components. You will also manage preventive maintenance schedules for machinery, vehicles, and building systems, ensuring everything operates efficiently. The remaining 25% involves maintaining a pristine environment through thorough cleaning, sanitizing, and waste management. You will also oversee community service workers and coordinate with external contractors for specialized services like pest control and utility maintenance.
Security and adaptability are key aspects of this position. You will monitor building activities and visitors to ensure safety, while remaining available for after-hours emergency calls. The role requires driving a Salvation Army vehicle to transport materials or passengers, and you may be asked to step in for additional responsibilities when other maintenance personnel are unavailable.
This is an outdoor and indoor hybrid role that requires physical mobility and resilience. You will work daily in various weather conditions, including rain, cold, snow, and heat, as well as in environments with noise, dust, and dirt. The work involves frequent physical exertion, including lifting and carrying heavy objects over 50 pounds, climbing, stooping, and squatting. A valid state driver's license is required to perform assigned driving tasks safely.
