Bowhead is seeking a Maintenance Operations Manager to support a critical proposal effort for logistics operations at Fort Carson, Colorado. This role is designed to provide administrative and operational leadership for the Maintenance, Supply, and Transportation functions within the Installation Logistics Support Contract activity.
The Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) at Fort Carson is a vital hub consisting of four primary divisions: Plans and Operations (P&O), Materiel Maintenance Division (MMD), Installation Supply & Services Division (ISSD), and the Installation Transportation Division (ITD). The selected candidate will serve as the operational leader for the FCCO Maintenance Department, ensuring the Materiel Maintenance Division delivers field and limited sustainment maintenance to installation tenants and organizations in a cost-effective and efficient manner that meets or exceeds Army standards of quality and excellence.
In this position, you will act as the primary point of leadership for the FCCO MMD management and technical team. You will be responsible for planning and directing personnel and resources to support day-to-day mission requirements, including the repair of motorized equipment and small arms/weapons. Your leadership will ensure that maintenance facilities remain safe, support equipment is serviceable, and maintenance cycle times are consistently achieved.
Beyond daily operations, you will play a key role in continuous process improvement (CPI) and quality assurance. This involves analyzing organizational problems to develop timely solutions, managing financial requirements, and maintaining strict accountability for all Government-furnished property, material, equipment, and facilities. You will also serve as the acting Project Manager during absences, ensuring seamless continuity of operations and adherence to contract Performance Work Statements.
This role requires a hybrid environment, with the Program Manager required to be on-site at Fort Carson. Work areas will span both office settings and industrial locations, such as maintenance shops and vehicle bays. The environment is active and demanding, characterized by high noise levels and potential exposure to heat, cold, dust, mist, and fumes. Personnel must be prepared to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, protective-toe footwear, gloves, and hearing protection as required.
The position demands physical capability, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and perform tasks such as twisting, bending, and squatting periodically. Success in this role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive team, and the flexibility to adjust to operational needs, including emergency or changing program requirements.
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must be US Citizens and currently hold a Secret security clearance. A pre-employment background check is required. The role also necessitates a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
