The Maintenance Millwright is essential to keeping the mill and yard equipment in proper working order. This position exists to ensure overall efficiency meets or exceeds company standards through timely completion of preventive maintenance (PM) work orders. The role is dynamic; daily activities may shift based on the immediate needs of the mill, requiring flexibility in scheduled hours. In addition to maintenance duties, this position may involve running equipment as needed.
You will serve as a key partner to the Sawmill Manager and Purchaser, collaborating to identify cost-effective strategies for facility-wide purchasing and inventory control. A significant part of your week involves building and executing a robust Preventive Maintenance program for diverse areas, including sawmill machinery, waste and dust collection systems, outside yard equipment, compressors, and general building needs.
Your work will require a blend of technical precision and adaptability. You will troubleshoot and repair defective parts, adjust clearances, and align components using hand and power tools. The role demands proficiency in welding and fabrication (MIG & Stick) and the ability to operate cutting torches safely with HOT WORK permits. You will also be expected to learn and operate all sawmill equipment efficiently.
Flexibility is a core requirement of this position. You must be prepared to work longer hours on short notice and commit to a minimum of 20% of your time off production hours each week when the facility is not running. Travel to various locations may be required as needed.
