The Clinician's Workday
The Hospitalist will provide comprehensive pulmonary critical care coverage during day shifts, accompanied by night call responsibilities. The role involves managing adult patients across multiple locations, with a daily census ranging from 4 to 15 patients depending on the specific facility assignment. Daily duties include admissions, cross-coverage, and pulmonary consultations, averaging 30 days of coverage per month.
Proficiency in essential procedures is required, including tracheal intubation, central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, dialysis catheter placement, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, conscious sedation, and bronchoscopy. The clinician will work alongside a robust support team comprising in-house hospitalists, ER physicians, respiratory therapy, and ICU nursing staff.
