About the Role
We are hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot issues, and mark the ground using paint and flags to promote damage prevention in the community. This is a field-based position designed for individuals who prefer working outdoors in all weather conditions and possess a desire to work independently.
You will be expected to problem-solve with speed and accuracy while utilizing provided equipment and technology to locate underground utilities. The role involves reading maps, interpreting blueprints, and determining the best method and sequence for locating. You will also communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners, and use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and emails.
Training and Support
We offer 100% paid on-the-job training to equip you with the basic skills needed for success. To support your daily commute and work, we provide late-model vehicles with fuel cards, allowing you to avoid high gas prices. You will take the vehicle home every night for company use only. Additionally, we offer vouchers for Red Wing safety shoes, totaling $200 after every twelve months of service.
Schedule and Expectations
This role requires a flexible schedule to accommodate ticket and production loads, which may include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays. Employees will also respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations. The position involves physical activity, including the ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week and carrying electronic locating equipment for extended periods.

Stake Center Locating is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements: Eighteen years of age or older; High school diploma or equivalent; Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record; Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week; Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; and Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs or lifting in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids.
